February 24, 2025, Washington, D.C. – Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pennsylvania) today announced the three chairs who will lead each of the regional commissions tasked with recommending U.S. Attorney and U.S. Marshal candidates to fill vacancies in the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Pennsylvania.
“Pennsylvanians deserve to have strong U.S. Attorneys and Marshals working for them to uphold the rule of law, prosecute criminals, and keep our communities safe,” Senator McCormick said. “Andy, David, and Lori are respected leaders with impressive backgrounds. I’m confident that, under their leadership, these commissions will help guide me in choosing exceptional candidates who are prepared to serve and protect all Pennsylvanians.”
The commissions will now organize and begin vetting candidates with the goal of making final recommendations to Senator McCormick in the next few months. Any qualified Pennsylvanian interested in being nominated for a U.S. Attorney or U.S. Marshal position can fill out an application here. Applicants should submit completed applications and direct any questions to pacommission@mccormick.senate.gov. The deadline for applying is March 28, 2025.
The three commissions, one in each district, will be comprised of eight to ten members and will be tasked with vetting candidates and making recommendations at the direction of the following chairmen:
Eastern District Chair – Andy Reilly
Andrew J. Reilly, Esq. is an experienced litigator with a focus in municipal law. He represents authorities, businesses, and individuals in litigation as well as real estate and business transactions. He is also a shareholder of Pennsylvania-based law firm Saxton & Stump. Andy has deep ties to Pennsylvania communities, especially in Delaware County, having served on the boards of numerous educational, medical, and charitable organizations. He is well-respected in the legal community and was appointed to the Federal magistrate selection panel and the hearing panel for the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board. He previously served eight years (elected to two terms) as a member of the Delaware County Council, the governing body of Delaware County.
Middle District Chair – David Freed
David J. Freed is the former U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of PA and spent more than 23 years in public service. Prior to his nomination and confirmation as U.S. Attorney, Freed was the Cumberland County District Attorney for 12 years and served in First Assistant District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney roles in Cumberland County. He also spent a year as a deputy prosecutor in York County. Freed earned his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. and his law degree from Penn State Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle. He currently serves as Chief Compliance and Risk Officer at West Shore Home, LLC, based in Mechanicsburg.
Western District Chair – Lori Hardiman
Lori Hardiman is Vice President & General Counsel for The First City Company in Pittsburgh, PA. She has been with First City since 1993 and is responsible for the administration of the company’s legal work and business decisions related to property financing, acquisitions and dispositions, tax appeal administration, lease negotiation and administration, general corporate decision-making, and ownership reporting. Prior to joining First City, Lori worked for the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Washington, DC. She holds a law degree and an MBA from Georgetown University.
