January 16, 2025, Washington, D.C. – Today, Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pennsylvania) in the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs asked questions of Scott Turner, who has been nominated to serve as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

“Scott Turner has the experience to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development and I’m proud to support him,” McCormick said. “I hope we will have a strong and close working relationship so that we can work on policies to reduce housing costs and increase the affordable housing supply in Pennsylvania and across the country. I’m confident that, if confirmed, Scott Turner will also work with Secretary of Veterans Affairs nominee Doug Collins to ensure affordable housing for Pennsylvania’s veterans.”

Earlier this week, Senator McCormick met with Scott Turner in his Senate office to discuss how they can work together to bring down housing costs in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has been hit particularly hard by the housing affordability crisis, especially in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Additionally, the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metro areas rank near the bottom for new housing unit construction. Federal, state, and local regulations are hindering new housing development. McCormick is eager to work with President Trump and Scott Turner to eliminate red tape and make housing more affordable for all Pennsylvanians.
