January 21, 2025, Washington, D.C. – Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pennsylvania) questioned Congresswoman Elise Stefanik this morning during her confirmation hearing to be U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“Living in Squirrel Hill, site of the tragic Tree of Life Synagogue attack in 2018, the threat of antisemitism hits home to me,” Senator McCormick said. “We need a U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations who will fight back against that hatred. And we also need a UN Ambassador who will stand up to the Chinese Communist Party. My wife Dina and I have known Elise Stefanik for more than twenty years. I am confident she can bring the same fire and effectiveness she has shown in Congress to the UN.”
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik represents New York’s 21st District in her fifth term and serves as the House Republican Conference Chair and most senior Republican in New York. Congresswoman Stefanik has dedicated her career to public service. She served in President George W. Bush’s administration before, at the time of her election, becoming the youngest woman to be elected to Congress in 2014. Ms. Stefanik is a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Education and the Workforce, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.
