January 20, 2025, Washington, D.C.: Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pennsylvania) voted to advance Senator Marco Rubio’s nomination for Secretary of State for President Donald J. Trump.

“We are at a highly consequential moment for American leadership around the globe,” Senator McCormick said. “Senator Rubio has been a leader on issues of intelligence and national security, putting America’s interests first and leading to peace through strength. I am confident he will do the same as Secretary of State.”

McCormick questioned Senator Rubio during his confirmation hearing last week in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In response to McCormick’s questions, Rubio expressed that he would work to secure the safe return of Pennsylvania’s Marc Fogel, to strengthen the U.S.-Israel alliance, to stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities, and to confront the threat of the Chinese Communist Party.

A Senator from Florida since 2010, Rubio has long spearheaded legislation to counter Chinese influence in the U.S. He has served as the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, has urged the Biden Administration to implement sanctions against the Iranian regime, and has continually advocated on behalf of stronger foreign policy to benefit Americans.
