March 21, 2025, Washington, D.C. – Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pennsylvania) met with constituents and local leaders in Lancaster County and Northeastern Pennsylvania to learn about vital businesses and organizations in these regions.

Tec Centro Workforce Development Center Tour – Lancaster

This morning, he visited Tec Centro in Lancaster, a bilingual workforce development center that provides vocational training to unemployed and under-employed individuals and families living in poverty. Senator McCormick, along with Congressman Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster), met with Carlos Graupera, President and CEO of Tec Centro Workforce Network, and his regional executive directors; toured their state-of-the-art facility in Lancaster; and observed active classes on topics like welding and metal fabrication, IT support, and HVAC, plumbing, and electromechanical skills.

“Tec Centro’s work to ensure that all Pennsylvanians have access to high-quality skills training and continuing education courses is not only valuable for the Commonwealth’s workforce, but also transformative for the students and their families,” Senator McCormick said. “It’s more important than ever that we help workers to retool to the constantly changing global economy. Tec Centro gives Pennsylvanians a clear path to accomplish their educational goals, gain meaningful employment, and live the American dream. I look forward to working with them to ensure bilingual Pennsylvanians continue to have access and options when it comes to learning valuable skills.”

Lackawanna County Business & Community Leaders Roundtable – Moosic

Following his tour of Tec Centro, Senator McCormick traveled to Moosic, PA, to meet with Lackawanna County business owners and community leaders, alongside Congressmen Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) and Dan Meuser (PA-09), PA Auditor General Tim DeFoor, and Lackawanna County Commissioner Chris Chermak, among others.

“The increased popularity of Northeast Pennsylvania and the Poconos is bringing a lot of attention here in terms of new investment, job creation, and economic opportunities,” said Senator Dave McCormick. “I’m excited to see what the future holds for Northeast PA, and I’m eager to continue working with leaders in this region to foster growth and opportunity for Pennsylvanians.”

Camp Freedom Meeting – Scranton

Senator McCormick then met with Executive Director for Camp Freedom, Matt Guedes, to discuss the organization’s work to support veterans and first responders in northeast Pennsylvania. Camp Freedom is a nonprofit that provides outdoor recreation activities for disabled veterans, first responders, and Gold Star Families to foster camaraderie, healing, and hope. Camp Freedom is headquartered in Carbondale, PA.

“As a combat veteran and former paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, I admire and applaud Camp Freedom’s mission to cultivate a healthy, supportive, and healing environment for veterans and first responders,” said Senator McCormick. “Those who have put their lives on the line to protect this country, its citizens, and its freedoms deserve the support they need to lead healthy, productive lives after their service. I am grateful for the work that organizations like Camp Freedom do to support our nation’s heroes by ensuring they have access to the healing benefits of Pennsylvania’s great outdoors.”
